Someone in my class was talking about how it’s sad that we work so hard on a comic and a reader only reads it for 15 minutes. This was also another complaint by another comic book artist. It’s a running issue with all medium. More time is spent than being taken in by consumers.
What people miss, which a very valuable point, is that if you do a good enough job—if you put enough love and thought—your comic doesn’t last 15 minutes. It could last years. Generations. Think about it. Pick up your favorite video game, movie, or comic. How many times have you read/watched/played? How many hours did you REALLY spend. 15 minutes? No.
I replayed Silent Hill 2 3 times. Silent Hill 4 times. Digested The Killing Joke 2 times. Read JTHM 7 times. Read Asterious Polyp 3. Lint 3. I analyze each one of them because they’re wonderful. Every time I am a part of the worlds these art pieces created. These worlds create ideas. It creates motivation.
A single page in a comic is not a simple read. That ONE PAGE could make your career. Art could be magic. You have that power as an artist. Why not use it?
If you feel the world is ugly, get up, and paint it beautiful.

What about Guitar playing, my space and talking on the phone? I’m not to concerned with acting my age but I’m pretty sure you can do all of the above without a age limit and feel like a responsible, fun adult all at the same time.
